The most demanded singer Shakira was given the most prestigious honor by France at Hotel Majestic in Cannes, France this Saturday.
The Colombian singer was all smiles as French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand pinned a medal unto her while declaring her as a Knight of the order of Arts and Letters.
After receiving the accolade from the French government, the hot celebrity worked her way into the crowd to pose for photos alongside her loving parents, Nidia Ripoll and William Mebarak Chadid.
The 34-year-old received the title thanks largely to her French song "Je l'aime a mourir," while past recipients of the accolade include director Tim Burton, Australian singer Kylie Minogue and actor George Clooney.
